Since you train outdoors, what is your weather policy? |
| Our weather policy is simple: Dress appropriately. We are training outside in all kinds of weather and we only cancel on specific holidays. IF we cancel, we will ALWAYS have that listed on our web site. In the park we have access to a macadam-based ball field, grass and a playground covered with wood chips. When it rains/snows we have access to a covered pavilion. The park is lighted all year around. |
Do I have to buy special equipment or clothes? |
| Unlike other martial art forms, there is no imposed uniform for Krav Maga. Sweats and a comfortable t-shirt are typically sufficient. We strongly suggest that you bring body protection (groin protection for men) to each class. During the winter season, always bring/wear warm clothes, gloves and whatever you need to keep your head and ears warm. |
Do you offer trial classes? |
| No. We offer our public classes at $10 per class. We don't require long-term contracts or other legal commitments, so you can join us for a couple of classes and check us out - and only pay $10 per class. If you like what we offer, great - you'll keep coming back for additional classes. If you don't find our (very hard-core) training a good fit for you, you only invested a small about of money. |
Will I lose weight taking Krav Maga? |
| No question about it! Losing weight is definitely a side-benefit of Krav Maga. Classes always include warm-up and a workout. Combatives like punches, kicks, knees, and elbows, which figures prominently in Krav Maga, is also an incredibly efficient way to lose weight very quickly. |
Do you only teach/train bodyguards? |
| No, we train civilians, law enforcement, bodyguards and security personnel. B2 Krav Maga is a (non-profit) training division of Better Bodyguards and the founders of B2 Krav Maga are all professional bodyguards with many years of experience in real world self-defense. |
What is the upper age limit for Krav Maga ? |
| There is none. There are people over 70 taking Krav Maga classes nationally. Locally, we have people in their 40's 50's and 60's not only taking Krav Maga, but excelling in Krav Maga. It is always a good idea to check with a doctor before engaging in strenous physical activity. |
Can I take private lessons in Krav Maga? |
| Yes, we do offer private lessons in Krav Maga, Russian Kettlebells and fitness training. Private lessons are $75 per hour per person. Please see the Personal Training page for more information. |
How long will it take for me to become proficient at Krav Maga? |
| Krav Maga, unlike martial arts, is a very fast-progressing system. Part of its design was driven by the need to train people very quickly and very efficiently. Consequently, it typically takes a person of average physical ability perhaps only a couple of months before significant progress is achieved and noticeable. |
My schedule is unpredictable, how can I fit Krav Maga into my lifestyle? |
| We recommend 2 classes per week and our schedule allow you to mix your days each week, depending on your schedule. We also offer regular seminars, which allow you to train for several hours over the weekend. Seminars and events are listed on our Seminars and Events page. If your schedule does not allow you to participate in our regular scheduled classes, you could consider private lessons. Please see the Personal Training page for more information. |
I want to spar, is that available? |
| B2 Krav Maga offers classes that include sparring and boxing (with all equipment - gloves, shin guards, mouthpiece, and head protection). In these classes, we focus on movement, combinations, technique, and mindset. We do offer beginner level fight classes for individuals who are interested but are not quite sure how to get started. You are responsible for purchasing your own equipment. |
I'm a small person with little strength, what good is Krav Maga to me? |
| Krav Maga was designed to benefit the average person. The system is not about sheer strength or power. As a matter of fact one of the basic tenets of Krav Maga is that one should not oppose power with power. Rather, Krav Maga blends a combination of physical skill with mental self-defense determination. Consequently, Krav Maga is more accessible to more people of either sex, shape or size than many martial art forms. |
Is there national competition and a belt system for Krav Maga like Karate? |
| Some Krav Maga organizations offer a color belt system of advancement in expertise. However, there are no specific competition events for Krav Maga like there is for martial arts. Similarly, there are no katas in Krav Maga. Each belt level carries with it various techniques that must be performed in a testing environment. Currently, B2 Krav Maga does not offer belt testing. |
Can we take classes as a couple? |
| Absolutely! What better way to ensure that your better half is as prepared to face an attacker as you are? As an added bonus you are guaranteed a workout and training partner in your house as well. |
Can my kids take Krav Maga? |
| Currently our Krav Maga classes are strictly for ages 16 and up. |
How safe is Krav Maga? Do I risk getting hurt? |
| Krav Maga is as safe as any martial arts form. Krav Maga classes are typically small and tightly controlled. The chances of being injured during a class are as remote and even less than for any other sport. The chances of someone attacking you being injured, however, are extremely high. |
Do you offer self-defense training against various weapons? |
| Yes, our programs and training include guns, knives, sticks, canes, batons and other more "unconventional" weapons. |
